The Chilean midfielder Williams Alarcón, 24 years old and belonging to Boca Juniors, underwent knee meniscus surgery after suffering an injury during the match in which his team beat Defensa y Justicia 4-0. According to doctors, Alarcón will need approximately two months of recovery.
The operation was performed by Dr. Jorge Batista at the Sanatorio de La Trinidad in San Isidro, province of Buenos Aires. After the procedure, it was determined that the player should rest at home for a speedy recovery. The injury occurred 24 minutes into the first half of the match between Boca Juniors and Defensa y Justicia, in which Boca was leading 1-0 at La Bombonera.
During a play on the right side of the defense, Alarcón attempted to press an opponent and ended up falling to the ground after a bad movement, which forced him to request a substitution immediately. The player was replaced by Tomás Belmonte on the team. Alarcón joined Boca Juniors in the last transfer window from Huracán.
